In the direct drive compressors, the air compressor pump unit is fitted directly to the rotating shaft of the electric motor. This method of construction provides a very compact arrangement and eliminates any transmission power losses. The shroud of the air compressor pump unit directs the air over the cylinder head ensuring cooler operation with better quality compressed air and extended service life.
